Hi - I’m Kari McKnight, RD.

I am a Registered Dietitian with 25 years of experience and a woman in the middle of her own menopause journey.

I created this space because I got tired of watching strong women be handed weak advice.

Here is what I know after two and half decades of clinical practice and my own lived experience: the women navigating menopause are some of the most resilient people I have ever encountered. They are managing symptoms that affect every system in their body - sleep, mood, metabolism, memory, joints - while continuing to show up fully for everyone around them.

These are not women who are falling apart. They are women who are stronger than they are given credit for.

Strong Through Menopause exists to match that strength with the right fuel. Because physical resilience - your bones, your muscle, your cardiovascular health - is built at the end of a fork. And mental resilience? That is supported there too. Blood sugar stability affects mood. Gut health affects anxiety. Nutrition affects brain fog and sleep and energy and the quiet confidence that comes from feeling well in your own body.

You are already strong. Let food make you stronger.

My Approach

I am not here to give you a list of foods to avoid. I am not here to put you on a plan that ignores the reality of your actual life. And I am absolutely not here to tell you that the way you are feeling right now is simply something you have to accept.

My approach is built on one foundational belief: food is the most powerful and most underused tool available to women in menopause and perimenopause. Not supplements. Not elimination diets. Not expensive protocols designed to make you feel like you are doing something without actually changing anything. Real food, chosen with intention, eaten in a way that works with what your body is doing hormonally right now.

This is what food-first nutrition means in practice:

βž• We start with addition, not subtraction.

Before we talk about what to remove we talk about what to add. More protein to protect your muscle and stabilize your blood sugar. More fiber to support estrogen metabolism and gut health. More of the specific nutrients your hormones actually run on. Restriction is not the answer β€” strategic nourishment is.

πŸ’ We connect food directly to symptoms.

Hot flashes, sleep disruption, brain fog, mood changes, weight shifts, joint discomfort, energy crashes β€” every one of these has a nutritional dimension that most women have never been told about. My approach maps specific foods and eating patterns directly to the symptoms you are experiencing so you understand exactly why you are making the choices you are making. Knowledge is sustainable. Compliance is not.

πŸš— We work with your real life.

You have a job, a family, a full life, and approximately zero interest in spending three hours in the kitchen every evening. Everything I share is designed for real people with real schedules. Quick meals, practical swaps, simple strategies that fit into the life you already have rather than requiring you to build an entirely new one.

πŸ–ΌοΈ We honor the whole picture.

Physical strength in menopause β€” your bones, your muscle, your cardiovascular health β€” is built through food. But so is mental resilience. Blood sugar stability affects mood and anxiety. Gut health affects brain function. Sleep quality affects emotional regulation. My approach treats your body as the interconnected system it actually is rather than a collection of isolated symptoms to manage separately.
This is not a diet. This is not a program with an end date. This is a way of eating that supports you through one of the most significant transitions of your life β€” and beyond it.
